We have two big thoughts for today, May 15th. 🙏 First, we observe Peace Officers Memorial Day to pay tribute to the local, state, and federal peace officers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Then, we'd like to announce our participation in Hudson Valley Gives, which kicks off today! What an incredible weekend at the Warrior Bonfire Program's spouses retreat.💜 From learning the art of starting seeds to indulging in a farm-to-table dinner, every moment was a delight for the senses. Huge thanks Glenna B Grant and Jessica K L Maddox for their homemade bread and pickled quail eggs - absolute treats! And a special shoutout to Tammy Beal, Karen Quave Darring, and Woerner Farms for the amazing farm and garden swag bags! 🛍️ Our taste buds were in heaven with desserts from Stacy Martin Hadley and refreshing Kombucha from Candice Gray-Slone. Natasha Freeman's insights from Bee-Lightful Botanicals on herbs and medicinal tinctures were truly enlightening! 🌿Let's not forget Karen Quave Darring's canning lesson - homemade peach jam, anyone? 🍑 The fun didn't stop there! Donna Barlass led us through farm yoga with adorable goats, and we explored the fascinating world of off-grid living at Solace Farm with Doug and Wendy Underhill. Solar power, rabbit keeping, and medicinal gardens - so much to learn! To top it all off, Sunday evening's BBQ featuring farm-raised smoked rabbits from Jamie Hullenbaugh was the perfect conclusion to an unforgettable weekend. As we enter May, we're reminded of the importance of mental health and the impact it has on our lives, especially for our veterans. This month, we stand together to raise awareness, support, and understanding for mental health issues. At the Warrior Bonfire Program, we're dedicated to providing our Purple Heart recipients with opportunities for healing and growth. Whether it's through retreats, or meaningful connections, we strive to empower our veterans on their journey to mental wellness. In the spirit of Mental Health Awareness Month, we're sharing this powerful image of one of our Purple Heart recipients finding strength during a retreat, enjoying some incredible time with a horse. Equine therapy is very helpful. Let's continue to break the stigma surrounding mental health and support each other on the path to healing. Remember, you're not alone.
