About us
There’s a reason two dozen people move to Douglas County, Colorado every day. The quality of life here is unmatched. Nestled along I-25 between Colorado’s two largest cities, Douglas County is both a magnet for successful business and a destination for outdoor adventure. This is by design. What you see in Douglas County today is the fruit of our County employees’ commitment. We keep our community safe. We keep our citizens moving, and we keep our economy growing – while protecting our historic and natural resources. We also take care of our most vulnerable – ensuring no one falls through the cracks. We hire good people and then get out of their way. Douglas County is recognized for being one of the most family-friendly and safe communities in Colorado. It’s also one of the healthiest. In 2021, Douglas County was named the second healthiest county in America, according to the 2021 Healthy Communities rankings by U.S. News and World Report, released in collaboration with the Aetna Foundation. We hit the high note when we work together. Douglas County is thankful to partner with the City of Lone Tree, CO and South Suburban Park and Recreation District on Lone Tree’s first and only regional park – High Note Regional Park. This week, the Board of County Commissioners agreed to contribute $300,000 toward design and construction documents. Funding is from voter-approved sales and use tax revenue specifically for parks, trails, open space and historic preservation. We’re excited for the work ahead – together.

Your home is likely one of the most significant investments you’ll ever make. That’s why each year Douglas County invests significant resources in the firefighting tools needed to protect your life, home and property from our County’s No. 1 natural hazard – wildfires. At the March 26 Business Meeting, The Board of Douglas County Commissioners allocated more than $1.8 million to the County’s 2024 wildland fire aerial firefighting contracts, ensuring air support in Douglas County is available at a moment’s notice in the event of a wildfire. https://lnkd.in/gbhuMpjC

Three days of demolition in one minute: Watch crews bring down the 60-year-old US 85 bridge over C-470! The C-470 and US 85 interchange has fully reopened, 48 hours earlier than planned. Crews worked around the clock Friday, March 8, through the early hours of Tuesday, March 12, to demolish the existing US 85 (Santa Fe Drive) bridge over C-470 to make way for the second half of the new, wider, bridge that is currently being constructed as part of the US 85 Widening Project. Thank you for your patience during our closure. And a special thank you to the crews at Kraemer North America and RockSol Consulting Group, Inc. who worked tirelessly to complete this work safely and efficiently!
